The Leadership and management in mental health services: Micro-credential certificate program is offered by SickKids CCMH Learning Institute in partnership with Humber Polytechnic for optional micro-credential recognition. 


This program provides essential leadership skills and knowledge for new, emerging, or seasoned leaders in community mental health services. Please note, this program was formerly titled "Excellence in mental health organization and people management."


Delivered by industry experts, the goal of the program is to equip and empower community mental health leaders for the challenges of service delivery during a time of unprecedented change. The programming provides in-demand and future-proof skills that are needed within mental health sectors.

This program consists of eight comprehensive modules designed to enhance leadership skills and organizational effectiveness. Each module focuses on a crucial aspect of leadership.


Program modules:

  • January 12: Becoming an exceptional leader - Explore the qualities and practices that define outstanding leadership.
  • January 14: Facilitating successful change - Learn strategies to guide organizations through transitions effectively.
  • January 19: Building financial acumen - Develop essential financial skills for informed decision-making.
  • January 22: Cultivating employee performance - Discover techniques to motivate and maximize team productivity
  • January 26: Managing human resource accountabilities - Navigate the complexities of HR management and employee relations.
  • January 28 and February 2: Fostering inclusive, equitable and anti-racist organizations - Create a workplace culture that embraces diversity and promotes equality.
  • February 9: Developing effective teams - Learn to build and lead high-performing, collaborative teams.
  • February 11: The strategic plan - Achieving impact through intentional and active leadership

Recording access and usage notice: The program modules/sessions are recorded and made available exclusively to program participants for 30 days after the program ends to support learning; not for distribution or resale.


Micro-credential opportunity:

  • To complement the core modules, participants have the option to earn a micro-credential by completing a personal project assessment through Humber Polytechnic. This additional component allows for practical application of the knowledge gained throughout the program.
