FYM Considerations for Culturally Safe Psychological Practice

Learning Objectives

Attendees will:

  • Reflect on and have a deeper understanding of how cultural safety differs from cultural competence and cultural humility
  • Consider together the ways in which Indigenous ways of knowing may contrast with longstanding approaches to understanding psychological evidence
  • Learn and discuss strategies to incorporate culturally safe practices into psychological practice, with an emphasis on psychological assessment.


About the presenter:

Reagan is registered to practice in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, and Yukon. Her areas of practice are Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology.  She is a Designated Capacity Assessor in Ontario. She graduated with her Ph.D. from the University of Windsor in 2012. Reagan offers psychological, neuropsychological, and capacity assessments in Alberta, Yukon, the NWT, NU, and Ontario. Reagan is the proud mum of two active sons. She also is an ordained Minister in the Anglican Church of Canada.
