PTSD and alcohol use disorders (AUDs) are frequently comorbid and represent a major public health concern. There are poorer AUD treatment outcomes when comorbid PTSD is untreated, including higher alcohol relapse and use. This workshop will review the research regarding the use of trauma-focused CBTs to address PTSD/AUD, then describe ways to address alcohol use in the context of providing a trauma-focused CBT. We will discuss ways to assess and monitor drinking, when not to provide trauma focused CBT, and strategies clinicians can use to help clients manage their drinking over the course of treatment.

Bespoke Mental Health Canada is approved by the Canadian Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. Bespoke Mental Health Canada maintains responsibility for the program.

Participants completing this workshop, live or on-demand, are eligible to receive 6 CE credits.
