FYM- Parenthood Across the Lifespan: A Primer for Anyone Working with Parents of All Ages
Parent-child difficulties and parenting issues can emerge in therapy with any client, regardless of the initial referral question. Understanding the lifelong transitions of parenthood enables professionals to offer nuanced interventions, address intergenerational dynamics, and help clients navigate complex parent-child relationships.
This webinar is designed for professionals seeking to better support parents as they navigate the multifaceted experience of parenting adult children. It explores the evolving dynamics between adult children and their parents, examining common challenges such as shifting roles and boundaries, disagreements over life choices, balancing independence with support, the resurfacing of past resentments, and estrangement.
About Dr. Pishva:
I am a bilingual clinical psychologist in private practice in Ottawa, Ontario. I work with children, adolescents, and families who experience a wide range of challenges, including trauma-related disorders and dissociation, attachment disorders, parenting challenges, peripartum disorders, or families who are going through high conflict divorce or separation.
Although my practice areas may seem wide and diverse, they all have one thing in common: relationships in transition. I help clients develop awareness and find meaning in their experiences. I am passionate about providing clients a space and tools to unpack their story with curiosity and compassion, by drawing on my training in attachment-based, narrative, and cognitive behavioural therapies. I also provide supervision, professional consultation and trainings to professionals. I volunteer on the Board of Director of the Youville Centre in Ottawa and of the AFCC-O.
