Dr. Andrea Peterman is a skilled and compassionate psychologist who has worked with adults and teens for over 15 years. As a certified Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (CBT), she has significant experience helping people manage a wide variety of concerns including worry, stress, grief, coping with transitions, anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorders, anger, and relationship concerns. In addition to CBT, Dr. Peterman incorporates strategies and skills from other therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Through trust, respect and collaboration, Dr. Peterman helps her clients work toward their goals by teaching evidence-based strategies and tailoring sessions to the unique needs of each individual. She provides individual consults, comprehensive psychological assessments, and individual treatment.
Dr. Peterman received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. During residency she held positions at the Anxiety Treatment & Research Centre, The Mood Disorders Service and the Eating Disorders Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. Dr. Peterman is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association and is a founding member and certified CBT therapist with the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapies (CACBT). Dr. Peterman has been working in private practice since 2007.
