To become a psychologist you will need an honours bachelors degree, a masters degree and then a doctoral degree in psychology, which takes a minimum of eight years. To become a clinician, you must complete an internship and then apply to for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. To complete the registration process, a year of supervised practice and written and oral examinations are required in your area(s) of declared competence.
To become a psychological associate you will need an honours bachelors degree and a masters degree, which takes a minimum of six years. To become a clinician, you must apply for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, a process which requires 4 years of work experience and one year of supervised practice. In some provinces, you can be registered to practice as a psychologist with either a masters or doctoral degree.
