CHILDREN RESISTING CONTACT POST-SEPARATION: CONTROVERSIES, CONSENSUS, ASSESSMENT & INTERVENTION
Drs Fidler and Polak are pleased to announce our upcoming 3.5 non-consecutive day virtual training: Children Resisting Contact Post-Separation: Controversies, Consensus, Assessment & Intervention.
This small group interactive training (Zoom “meeting” format) (total of 24 hours) is suitable for therapists, parenting plan evaluators, mediators, parenting coordinators & child protection workers. Lawyers will benefit from Nov 12 and 13.

- multi-causal contrasted with single causal model for understanding parent-child contact problems (PCCPs)
- differentiated spectrum of PCCPs - affinities, alignments, justified rejection, alienation & hybrid cases
- research update: on impact of conflict, family violence, alienation & intervention outcomes
- screening/assessment tools and protocols for intimate partner violence (IPV), including coercive controlling violence (CCV)
- differentiated clinical & trauma-informed family systems-based interventions for mild & moderate PCCPs
- differentiated legal & clinical remedies for the most severe cases of alienation (custody reversal & “say goodbye for now), and realistic estrangement
- role of the court, court orders
- nuts & bolts of family systems-based interventions (family therapy) for mild & some moderate cases, including initial query/referral management, screening and clinical intake assessment process, using a multi-factor assessment model to determine safety and suitability, informed consent process/agreements for parents and children, court orders for therapy, establishing goals and measuring outcomes, and psycho-educational tools & clinical interventions for work with each parent, children and family
