The Diabetes Care and Research Program is an ambulatory clinic of the Specialty Adult Services. The Program provides a multidisciplinary approach with the expertise in diabetes education and management. In addition, a fundamental role of the Program is to support the development of care providers in their diabetes expertise. 

Position Summary  
Provision of psychological assessment and treatment as part of an interdisciplinary team focusing on chronic disease management strategies. The Health Psychologist role will include providing results of clinical assessments, conferencing patients and provision of treatment. Treatment will include individual psychotherapy as well as development of group treatment strategies. Group strategies include development of staff education and training in team based programs using educational, cognitive and behavioural strategies in the management of chronic disease as well as conducting group programs for this patient population. The Health Psychologist role will also include developing program based evaluation of service and integrated research projects. The Psychologist should have experience in differential diagnoses and managing complex patient populations with chronic diseases. Relevant care plans may involve individual, family or systemic considerations in conjunction with ongoing medical management. The Psychologist would also be expected to assist with program and interdisciplinary program evaluation. A strong knowledge of assessment, diagnosis and treatment interventions is required.
